Audiences in Edmonton have been enjoying the Easter tradition of Love According to John. The beloved theatre piece now enters its 39th year.
Nearly 39 years ago, Teen Time founder, Wally Sczebel asked local opera singer, June Hunt to prepare a theatre piece that could be performed by members and attendees of the Teen Time program. Since its humble beginnings, the play has evolved into something that is perhaps greater than anything anyone could have imagined.
It's hard to believe it, but the summer and fall of yet another year have passed. Love According to John is back in full swing in preparation for 3 exciting Easter shows.
So, You Want to Get Involved?
Love According to John is proud of it's extremely diverse cast. Alberta Lyric Theatre welcomes actors and actresses of all shapes, sizes, ages, and skill levels. Whether you're 2 or 92, your skills and passion can be put to good use.
If you're not keen on standing in the spotlight, there are many backstage opportunities available. Rehearsals start January 3, 2010 so if you want to get involved, please contact June Hunt or Roy Matheson. Their information can be found by clicking on "Contact Us" on the Main Menu (on the left).
Practices
'LAJ' practices take place once a week (Sunday) at Vanguard College (12140 103 Street NW). Arrive a little early (1:30) for a punctual 2:00 start. Practices generally end at 6:00.
NOTE: Henry Visser, the volunteer in charge of the trailer that we use to store our props, is a dairy farmer. He has many hours of work to do once he gets home from LAJ. He is only able to go home to milk his cows after all the props have been loaded into his trailer. If you are able, please stay back for a few minutes and help pack and load props.
If you'd like more information on positions available, feel free to check out the 'Get Involved' link in the left menu bar (under "News").
We hope to see you at our rehearsals. Also, don't forget that it's never too early to start booking tickets for the Easter shows.
